With nearly 15 years of experience in healthcare, working in a variety of clinical settings both as a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner, I’ve witnessed a lot to say the least. I’ve seen firsthand the struggles many people face with chronic illness and realized how relentless these conditions can be despite even the best efforts of conventional medicine. It wasn’t just the countless patients I cared for; it was also close friends and loved ones experiencing ongoing challenges with chronic illness- specifically those who suffered with autoimmune conditions. As I became more aware of their daily struggles and the potential debilitating effects, I felt deeply for them. I could see them trapped in cycles of medications and feelings of frustration, hopelessness, and despair. Although I suffered with chronic asthma and allergy symptoms myself, it was these experiences, along with a strong compassion for others, that caused me to seek an alternative. I knew there had to be a better way to help people suffering with chronic illness.
Everything clicked for me when I learned about functional medicine. Unlike conventional medicine, it focuses on addressing the root cause of disease instead of just managing symptoms. It was through this approach that true change and improved outcomes seemed possible. With simple dietary and lifestyle changes, I saw people experience less pain and inflammation, renewed energy and ability to do everyday tasks, and a newfound joy in life. With a deep desire to help people break free from cycles of suffering, I began personal studies and extensive training in functional medicine with the School of Applied Functional Medicine, Functional Medicine Academy, and STORRIE Institute. My goal is to help women tired of continually suffering with their autoimmune conditions find lasting relief and an improved quality of life by addressing nutrition and promoting gut health. In correcting the root functional imbalances in the body, I hope to not only restore patients with true, lasting health but also to instill hope, joy, and an improved overall quality of life.
